£6,500 Raised for Charity in 2025
The 2025 Shanty Shout was the major fund-raiser for Shanty crew, High & Dry in 2025. We were delighted to announce that through performances, community events, and donations received from appreciative audiences the group raised and distributed an outstanding £6,500 to three vital charities:

£1,000 – Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)
Supporting the RNLI’s continuing life‑saving work around the UK’s coasts.
£1,000 – Children’s Hospice South West​
Helping provide essential care and support for children with life‑limiting conditions and their families.
£4,500 – Somerset Prostate Support Association (SPSA)
This substantial donation will directly fund a local prostate cancer testing event in 2026, helping men aged 40 and over access early testing - an initiative which can lead to life‑saving early diagnoses. The SPSA specialises in running free, discreet testing events across Somerset, supported entirely by volunteers and charitable donations.
Early detection remains critical, with thousands of men diagnosed every year and no national screening programme in place - making community‑funded events especially vital.
